It's obvious from the number of visitors who find this concrete contractors directory website that potential customers are looking for local contractors online - but the websites they're looking for just aren't there.
There could be a number of good reasons why you, the owner of a smaller concrete contracting company, haven't built a website:
• Perhaps you feel the technology is too intimidating.
• You may not have time to learn how to build a website.
• Maybe you aren't sure how to find a free-lancer to build a website
for them.
• You aren't convinced that the Internet is a good place to advertise.
• And you may have tried a website in the past, but gave it up because
people couldn't find it.
A yellow pages ad is certainly a necessity, but with all the people who now prefer to shop online, concrete contractors who don't have websites may be losing out on profitable projects.
I have the following suggestions for contractors who want to build a website, but who aren't quite sure how to go about it:
1. Keep it simple. You don't need to get carried away with fancy Flash intros and multiple pages. Your customers are looking for a concrete contractor, not a web designer, so there's no point in getting fancy.
2. Make sure that you include the name of your city and the kind of services you provide in all your headlines, title tags, and description tags. This will help the search engines find you when local customers search for your services.
3. Don’t include an email address if you don't intend to answer your emails promptly - it can really make a bad impression to people who use the Internet. If you prefer that people contact you by phone, list your phone number prominently, along with the hours when you can be reached.
4. Use graphics sparingly, because lots of pictures make the pages load slowly. When you do use graphics, choose them wisely - a picture of your office staff will be less useful than a good photo of your latest project.
5. You don’t have to be a great writer, but the copy on your page should highlight the services you provide. People will be more comfortable in making the call to your office if they know you build foundations, or concrete slabs, or curbing -or whatever service they happen to need. Be specific, and show examples of your work if you can. And be sure to check your spelling!
6. Make sure you have at least one other website linking to you after you get your site online. If you don't have anyone linking to you, the search engines won't find you. Submitting your web address to the search engines won't help if you don't have links. The easiest way to get a link is to submit your site to an online directory, such as find-concrete-contractors.com
Many inexpensive web hosts now offer templates and simple programs for creating a website. These services can cost less than $10.00 a month – which may be the least expensive form of advertising you can find. If you choose one of these template programs, be sure it doesn’t create the website in Flash – Flash sites look great, but the search engines can’t find them.
find-concrete-contractors.com is not associated with any of the companies listed on this website, and we cannot make recommendations or vouch for any of these contractors. If you need recommendations or bids, please go to NeedContractor.com.
We highly recommend that you contact your local contractor's licencing board and Better Business Bureau before signing a contract.
